TRICHY: Trichy city police have worked out a traffic diversion plan in view of the Vinayagar Chathurthi idol procession for the immersion of the idols in the city on Wednesday.
The traffic diversion will be in effect from 2pm on Wednesday and will continue until 6am on Thursday.
All buses from Thuraiyur, Ariyalur, Perambalu and Cuddalore routes to Chathiram bus stand in the city will be diverted at No 1 toll gate and routed through the old Palpannai roundabout, TVS toll gate, the head post office, Mutharaiyar statue, MGR statue, Anna Nagar road, Sasthri road, KT junction to reach Chathiram bus stand. The buses will return via the same route from Chathiram bus stand.
The city buses plying from Lalgudi, Samayapuram, Mannachanallur, and Vaathalai will pass through the new Kollidam bridge, check post no. 6, Thiruvanaikovil trunk road, Thiruvanaikovil junction, JAC corner to reach Srirangam bus stand. In the return direction, the buses will be directed through Rajagopuram, Gandhi road, Thiruvanaikovil junction, Thiruvanaikovil trunk road, check post no. 6, and the new Kollidam bridge.
All the city buses from Chathiram bus stand to Srirangam will take the route of the main guard gate, West Boulevard road, Vellamandi, Nelpettai, Darbarmedu, Palpannai roundabout, Chennai bypass road, Y road junction, Police check post no. 6, trunk road, Thiruvanaikovil junction, Gandhi road, JAC corner to reach Srirangam old bus stand. The return direction for the buses will be Rajagopuram, Gandhi road, Thiruvanaikovil junction, Thiruvanaikovil trunk road, check post no. 6, Y road junction, Chennai bypass road, Palpannai roundabout, TVS toll gate, the head post office, Mutharaiyar statue, Anna Nagar road, Sasthri road, KT junction, Maris bridge, Gandhi statue, college road to reach Chathiram bus stand.
The buses from Chathiram bus stand to Thiruverumbur and Thuvakudi areas will go through the main guard gate, West Boulevard road, Vellamandi, Nelpettai, Darbarmedu, Palpannai roundabout to reach the destination. The return direction will be through Palpannai, the head post office, MGR statue, Anna Nagar road, KT junction, Maris bridge to reach the Chathiram bus stand.
All heavy vehicles from Coimbatore and Karur routes heading towards Thanjavur and Pudukkottai will be diverted at Cauvery bridge at Kulithalai through Musiri, No 1 toll gate, Chennai bypass road, Palpannai roundabout, and TVS toll gate. The return direction will follow the same route.
