The recklessness of bikers on Mumbai’s roads is on the rise. This video clip once again proves they have no fear of the law. There have been innumerable cases where pedestrians, including the elderly, have been knocked down and cops and fellow motorists assaulted by unruly bikers. Jumping signals and riding on the wrong side has also increased. Unless the traffic police enforces rules strictly, the threat to law-abiding citizens on Mumbai’s roads remains a clear and present danger.
The video clip, which has garnered over 1.4 lakh views, surfaced after an activist tweeted about it on the Twitter handle (@PotholeWarriors. In response, Mumbai Traffic police tweeted: “If anyone has any information about the persons seen in the video. You can send a direct message.” Traffic police sub-inspector attached with BKC traffic division filed a complaint against the biker. “Subinspector Nandaram Langi is suo motu complainant. The sections are non- bailable,” joint commissioner of police (traffic) Pravin Padwal told TOI. “A team has been formed to track the biker,” said DCP (Zone VIII) Dikshit Gedam.
