Ram temple consecration on January 22, PM Modi to attend | India News

NEW DELHI/LUCKNOW: The idol of Ram Lalla will be installed on January 22 at the Ayodhya temple in the presence of PM Narendra Modi, capping decades of efforts, including the largest mass mobilisation post-Independence and a hard-fought legal battle, to reclaim the site. This could potentially set the stage for a long spell of celebrations.
Although January 22 had been speculated to be among the probable dates for installing the idol of Ram Lalla (Lord Ram in child form), the confirmation came after a delegation of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust called on the PM to invite him for what is set to be a grand ceremony and may see a large number of people visiting Ayodhya to participate.

“Today is a day full of emotions. Officials of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust had come to meet me at my residence. They have invited me to come to Ayodhya on the occasion of the consecration of the Shri Ram temple. I feel very blessed. It is my good fortune that in my lifetime, I will witness this historic occasion,” the PM posted on X as he greeted his followers with “Jai Siya Ram” and posted a photo of himself with the functionaries of the Ayodhya trust.

Champat Rai, general secretary of the trust, who along with Nripendra Misra, former principal secretary to the PM and head of the temple construction committee, visited the PM, said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be among those present on the landmark occasion.
