THANE: A video has gone viral showing an unidentified suburban railway commuter being thrashed by fellow passengers at Diva station in Thane.
Police said the incident occurred late Monday evening and are now trying to locate the victim before registering a complaint.
It is learnt that the incident was reported when the 7.10pm Karjat local pulled into platform number 3 at Diva.
Few commuters who probably wanted to alight at Diva got into an argument with victim who wanted to travel further and was supposedly not ready to vacate the door space which led to the irate group pulling him down off the coach and assaulting him.
A police team patrolling the station reached the spot but the victim had left by then following which they are now trying to track the commuter, an official from the Thane railway police told TOI, Tuesday evening.
Passenger activist from Diva, Adesh Bhagat, said such fights and arguments over fellow passengers blocking access to train doors have become common in suburban locals and have demanded action.
The Thane railway police had few years back started taking action on long distance passengers blocking access of train doors but suspended it later on.
