KOLKATA: An illegal call centre, operating from a swanky office in a Sector V highrise, was sealed by Bidhannagar police on Monday. During a raid cops arrested seven employees of Vinheet Technologies while its two directors, Vineet Agarwal and Prem Lata Agarwal, are absconding.
The accused duped foreigners in Belgium and other parts of Europe. Cops seized 26 computers, nine smartphones and cash worth Rs 53,000 from the office.
Listed as a data processing company, young men and women underwent language and voice modulation training at the office before they were assigned to call up foreigners, posing as the officials of Microsoft from 26 different workstations within the office. “The accused posed as Microsoft executives and duped the foreigners on the pretext of providing their computers with technical support,” said an officer.
