THANE: Members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) held a protest in Thane city opposing the impending toll charge hike at five entry points leading to Mumbai, scheduled to take effect on October 1.
The demonstrators, led by Avinash Jadhav and the heads of MNS units in Thane and Palghar, brandished party flags and banners and chanted slogans to express their discontent with the toll increase.
Despite the protest, vehicular traffic at the toll checkpoints remained largely unaffected as the demonstrators positioned themselves on the roadside to voice their grievances.
In discussions with reporters, Jadhav mentioned that while their protest on Saturday was conducted peacefully, they intend to escalate their agitation in subsequent actions.
Starting from October 1, toll charges at five entry points into Mumbai, namely Dahisar (Western Express Highway), Airoli, Vashi (Sion-Panvel Highway), Mulund West (LBS Marg), and Eastern Express Highway, are slated to witness an increase.
