CHENNAI: A man, who was found sexually abusing a three-year-old girl child at Pulicat, was nabbed by the locals, tied to a pole and thrashed before being handed over to police on Friday.
Gopal, 38, of Pulicat lured the child, his neighbour, with a chocolate and took her home. When he began to sexually abuse her she raised an alarm, prompting her parents and neighbours rush to her rescue.
They caught Gopal, tied up the man to a pole and attacked him till Ponneri All-woman Police personnel came and took him to a government hospital at Pulicat. Gopal was admitted at SRMC where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries. The child too suffered injuries and has been hospitalised.
Gopal was booked under Pocso Act and remanded in judicial custody.
