THANE: An alert constable caught a dummy candidate who was to appear for a police recruitment exam. He was padded up with gadgets, the police said. The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him at Rabodi police station.
The exams were scheduled at the Saraswati school on Sunday. As the candidates were going inside the exam centre, a constable Ishwar Gholwad was frisking candidates at the main gate.He got suspicious about a candidate who was found wearing a knee cap. Upon carrying out a body search, the constable found a smartwatch stashed inside the knee cap. The dummy candidate was also found wearing tiny earbuds.
It was later verified that he was appearing on behalf of someone else, said Ganesh Gawade, the DCP zone-1 of Thane city police. The police said that the man was detained and taken to Rabodi police station and they were in the process of registering the case against the dummy candidate.
“The original candidate had promised him Rs 20,000 to appear for the exam and had paid him Rs 10,000 as token money. Rest was to be paid after that examination,” said a police officer.
