CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Thursday said the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the state would essentially be a fight between the DMK and the saffron party. Annamalai refrained from mentioning former ally AIADMK, which recently snapped ties with the BJP and is considered the main opposition party in the state.
Recovering from an infection, Annamalai, sporting a mask, participated in the meeting of senior functionaries at the party’s Chennai headquarters. After the meeting, Annamalai, speaking to reporters, indicated that the BJP was ready to face the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on its own.
“It will be the BJP vs the DMK in the 2024 (Lok Sabha) elections. We have governed for 10 years (at the Centre) and by the time of the election, the DMK would have governed (in the state) for 35 months. Both the parties will face the election with their respective report cards. The BJP will question the DMK and they are answerable and similarly, the DMK will question us and we are answerable to them,” said Annamalai.
