He fled the scene and remained on the run for 15 years until he was arrested in Bengaluru in 2018.
The Gujarat high court had given him two weeks of temporary bail from August 4 to 19, but he did not return to jail on the due date.
The jail authorities then informed the high court about his disappearance.
Jinaraj was charged with murder, dowry death, cruelty, conspiracy under the IPC and the Dowry Prohibition Act in a supplementary chargesheet filed by the police in January 2019.
His mother Annamma Chacko, his elder brother Arun and his sister-in-law Roopkanta are also facing trial since 2016 for similar charges in a case filed by Sajni’s brother-in-law PK Shashidharan.
Jinaraj also has a 2018 FIR against him in Bhopal for making a fake passport with forged documents.
