Delhi Crime News: Absconding Sajni Nair murder accused Tarun Jinaraj arrested by Ahmedabad Cyber Crime | Ahmedabad News

AHMEDABAD: Tarun Jinaraj — a murder suspect who allegedly killed his wife Sajni Nair in 2003 — was nabbed by the Gujarat’s Ahmedabad Cyber Crime team at a paying guest facility in Delhi’s Najafgarh area on Thursday.

Jinaraj had jumped the interim bail and failed to report back.
He is accused of killing Sajni by choking her on Valentine’s Day in 2003, three months after their wedding in Ahmedabad.

He fled the scene and remained on the run for 15 years until he was arrested in Bengaluru in 2018.

The Gujarat high court had given him two weeks of temporary bail from August 4 to 19, but he did not return to jail on the due date.
The jail authorities then informed the high court about his disappearance.

Jinaraj was charged with murder, dowry death, cruelty, conspiracy under the IPC and the Dowry Prohibition Act in a supplementary chargesheet filed by the police in January 2019.

His mother Annamma Chacko, his elder brother Arun and his sister-in-law Roopkanta are also facing trial since 2016 for similar charges in a case filed by Sajni’s brother-in-law PK Shashidharan.

Jinaraj also has a 2018 FIR against him in Bhopal for making a fake passport with forged documents.

He allegedly used it to get jobs in multinational companies and travel to the US twice.
When he was arrested in 2018 by the Ahmedabad crime branch, he had changed his name to Pravin Bhateley and had remarried.
He had been living with his second wife and two children in Bengaluru for six years and even owned a flat.
