MUMBAI: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday accused that the BJP of undermining Mumbai’s significance and facilitating the relocation of businesses and industries to Gujarat.
While addressing a gathering of senior Shiv Sainiks, Thackeray emphasized that only Shiv Sena has the potential to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party‘s influence in Maharashtra.

He clarified that Shiv Sena’s struggle is against autocratic tendencies rather than individuals. Thackeray recounted past attempts by the BJP to undermine Shiv Sena, both in 2014 and 2019, claiming that the BJP aimed to weaken and eventually eliminate the party.
Thackeray underscored that the concept of Hindutva does not belong exclusively to the BJP and expressed his willingness to let those who wish to leave Shiv Sena do so, as he did not want individuals with a disloyal mindset to claim credit for their victories.
Regarding Prime Minister Modi’s criticism of Sharad Pawar during a recent visit to Shirdi, Thackeray questioned the government’s actions for farmers and the need for prolonged protests and the subsequent withdrawal of the farm laws.
Thackeray dismissed the allegations of a “COVID scam” as an attempt to tarnish Maharashtra’s reputation. He explained that they were operating under the provisions of the Epidemic Act with a primary focus on saving lives during the pandemic.
Businessman Sujit Patkar, a close associate of Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, is a central figure in a case related to alleged irregularities at the jumbo COVID-19 treatment centers established in Mumbai during the pandemic.
