429 fresh Covid cases in Delhi, positivity rate now at 16% | Delhi News



NEW DELHI: For the second consecutive day, Delhi recorded more than 400 cases of Covid-19. On Sunday, the national capital registered 429 new cases and another fatality owing to the virus. As per the daily health bulletin, the positivity rate was 16.09%, a jump of around 2% from Saturday.
Sunday’s figure came from 2,667 samples. According to the state government, the primary cause of the death was “not Covid and Covid’s finding is incidental”. On Saturday, the city recorded 416 cases and one death.

With Sunday’s figure, active cases have now reached 1,395.
The number of Covid-infected patients admitted to hospitals remains low compared to the number of infections. Of the total number of patients admitted, nearly 50% are in the ICU. Currently, there are 87 patients admitted to different city-based Covid wards, of which 44 are in ICU and 33 are on oxygen support.

In the genome sequencing reports between February 14 and March 25, it is suggested that the Covid variant XBB.1.16 is the predominant sub-lineage circulating in the national capital, with 52.19% existence, followed by XBB.2.3 (16.06%) and XBB.1.5 (13.14%).
