2 held for Rs 1 crore armed robbery in Delhi’s Gulabi Bagh

NEW DELHI: Two men were arrested in connection with the robbery of Rs 1 crore from two victims in the Gulabi Bagh area of north Delhi. The victims, Suresh and his associate Rakesh, were responsible for transporting money for Kamlesh Shah, their employer.
On Wednesday around 3.30pm, Shah entrusted them with Rs 1 crore to be delivered to someone in Chandni Chowk. The two individuals embarked on their journey in an auto-rickshaw from Milan Cinema.
However, at approximately 3.50pm, when they reached near metro pillar number 147 on Veer Banda Vairagi Marg, their auto-rickshaw was intercepted by four men on two motorcycles. The pillion riders dismounted from the motorcycles, brandished firearms, and forcibly took the bags containing the money from the victims before fleeing towards Pratap Nagar Metro Station.
In response, the police launched an extensive investigation, analyzing footage from over 200 CCTV cameras to trace one of the motorcycle’s registration numbers. Subsequently, the police conducted multiple raids in various locations, including Jahangirpuri, Moti Nagar, Sonipat, Karnal, Ambala, Baghpat, and Haridwar.
As a result of these efforts, two suspects, identified as Vikki and Monty alias Pritam Kumar, were arrested. The police also recovered a motorcycle used in the commission of the offense, a country-made pistol, and approximately Rs 15 lakh in cash from the arrested individuals.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, with continued efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover the stolen money, according to the police.
