Chennai: SRM institute of hotel management was awarded the best educational institution for tourism and hospitality by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation in the state tourism awards, 2023 on World Tourism Day at Kalaivanar Arangam in Triplicane by the minister of tourism V Ramachandran, along with Gingee K S Masthan, the minister for minorities welfare and non-resident tamils welfare and other officials. tnn

And the best village tourism award goes to Ullada
Ullada, a village in Tamil Nadu, has won the Union government’s ‘best village tourism’ award for its attractions including hill-grown vegetables, tea gardens, and a eucalyptus distillery. The century-old Nilgiris Mountain Railway that passes through the village also played a role in winning the award. Ullada offers a unique rural experience with its traditional culture, cuisine, and lifestyle of the badaga community. The village’s proximity to the railway track and the promotion of homestays have also contributed to its recognition as a tourist destination.

A total of 1,22,188 foreign tourists visited Chennai till July this year, according to Tourism Minister K Ramachandran. Additionally, 57,672 people visited Chengalpet district, where Mahabalipuram is located. The minister announced plans to contribute 12% revenue to the state’s total revenue and create 25 lakh jobs for youth. Recreational tourism spots will be set up in Kanyakumari, Madurai, Tiruchi, and Coimbatore, and a 100-acre theme park is being established. The ITC Grand Chola was named the “Best Classified Hotel” and Ottimo Cucina Italiana received the “Best Continental Restaurant” title at the Tamil Nadu Tourism Awards 2023.
