KOLKATA: With the Durga Puja fervor in full swing, West Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose is out on the streets of Kolkata to capture the festivity. While doing so, he provided shelter to a destitute individual and also offered him a job on Monday, proving himself a good samaritan.
For the past three days, Bose has been trying to help people.
The governor visited the All Bengal Women’s Union home on Saturday and invited the elderly women and children of the home to visit Darjeeling Raj Bhavan. He also had tea with the senior citizens and promised an educational scholarship for a home resident to enable her to study nursing.
On Ashtami, he went to different places, and as he was passing through Babughat, he located the pavement dwellers, handed over sweets, and also gave them an idol of Goddess Durga so they too could enjoy the festive mood.
On Monday, the governor spotted a destitute person and decided to provide shelter to Abhishek Chatterjee, who had spent 8 years as a pavement dweller before coming to Raj Bhavan.
Bose provided him with food, new clothing, and shelter at Raj Bhavan, along with a job. Chatterjee was very content.”
