Thane: Man gets 10 years RI after daughter testifies against him in court | Thane News



THANE: The Thane court on Friday convicted and sentenced a 31-year-old man to ten years rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing his daughter aged-six in 2017.
The minor girl testified against her father in the court that nailed him.
The accused was into furniture making work and resided with his wife and daughter. According to the prosecution, Sandhya H Mhatre the accused had on December 02, 2017 between 5.00 pm and 10.00 p.m. made advances towards his daughter and raped her inside his house while his wife was not present. After raping her he also intimated her not to disclose anything to anyone or he shall kill her.
The victim, who was terrified, narrated the ordeal to her mother, who then registered the offence with Kalwa police under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual offences act (POCSO) and arrested the accused who was tried in the case.
The defence counsel contested the case and presented the side of the convict. The prosecution said that a total of 5 witnesses were examined also the medical reports supported the prosecution case and confirmed the rape. The testimony of the victim proved vital in this case.
Priyanka Shinde, who also assisted the presentation of evidence in the court along with the prosecution witnesses.
In his order, the judge DS Deshmukh held that the prosecution has successfully proved all the charges against the accused beyond all reasonable doubts for which he needs to be convicted and sentenced. Along with the sentence, the court also fined the accused with collective sum of Rs 9,000.
The court directed that the fine amount recovered be given to the victim towards compensation besides the one available from the District Legal Services Authority.
