CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday announced a 4% dearness allowance hike for government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners. “The chief minister has ordered that the dearness allowance shall be enhanced to 46% with retrospective effect from July 1, 2023,” said an official statement.
Chief minister M K Stalinhad earlier announced that the government would fulfil the demand of its employees and teachers to announce a dearness allowance hike as and when the Union government announced the rate revision for its officials.The hike would benefit 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners. “This will incur an additional expenditure of 2,546.2 crore (for the state exchequer),” the statement said.
