The 42 samples from bat and other animals, which were sent to National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD), Bhopal, tested negative for Nipah, dealing a setback to the state’s efforts to identify the source of the recent Nipah outbreak in Kozhikode. The second batch of 42 samples were collected from the house and farmland of Mohammedali (deceased index patient in current outbreak) at Maruthonkara and nearby areas and sent for testing on September 21.
