CUDDALORE: A Class 12 boy was hacked to death by an unemployed engineering graduate in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as V Jeeva (17) and the accused as S Ananth (24) – both lived in the same locality. Police have launched a hunt for Ananth, who absconded after committing the crime.
Police said a few days ago, Ananth invited Jeeva to his house and attempted to have sex with him, but Jeeva turned down his proposal. Jeeva had kept in his mobile phone photos of a girl he had befriended on Instagram. Ananth managed to get the screen shots of the photos and started blackmailing Jeeva to give in to his proposal. He threatened that he will morph the photos of the girland post them online.
Police said recently Jeeva had taken Ananth’s phone and broken it, leading to a quarrel. On Tuesday morning, when Jeeva was going to school, Ananth attacked him from behind with a knife and stabbed Jeeva on his neck and chest.
Passersby rushed Jeeva to a government hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead. tnn
