Stalin to officials: Speed up road works in Chennai, other parts of Tamil Nadu | Chennai News



CHENNAI: Chief minister M K Stalin on Thursday inspected ongoing road works in South Chennai areas like Alandur, Perungudi and Velachery.
Stalin visited Madipakkam’s Ram Nagar 7th Cross Street, Third Main Road (west side), Third Main Road (east side), where works worth Rs 85 lakh are under way.
Later, he inspected highway road works in Manapakkam-Kolapakkam-Gerugambakkam stretch where works worth Rs 4.5 crore are under way.
He visited Thiruvalluvar Salai in Ramapuram where works worth Rs 2.23 crore are under way.
“Chennai Metro Rail must also carry out work without disturbance to daily traffic. Chief secretary should review road works across the state every week and give a progress report,” the chief minister said.
Stalin said roads were damaged in various added areas of the city. “We are getting complaints on a regular basis,” he said.
“Many old roads have not been relaid. Theys should be relaid,” he said.
Stalin asked the ministers concerned, secretaries and department heads to review the road work progress. “I would be visiting these areas regularly to ensure works are happening,” he said.
The chief minister said he would inspect road works across the state soon and all the departments concerned should ensure that works are speeded up.
