KALYAN: In a move aimed at bolstering the Shiv Sena’s (UBT) presence across Maharashtra, party chief Uddhav Thackeray recently appointed several individuals to key leadership roles. Notably, Vijay Salvi from Kalyan was designated as the deputy leader in the party. However, amidst these changes, Sadanand Tharwal, the Kalyan Lok Sabha district president, tendered his resignation from the party post, which is seen as a setback for Uddhav.
Tharwal clarified that his decision to resign is not driven by discontent with anyone within the party, emphasizing his commitment to continue serving as a Shiv Sainik. Nevertheless, his resignation has prompted speculation in political circles regarding the possibility of him joining the Shinde group.
Sadanand Tharwal is a seasoned Shiv Sena figure, having dedicated 43 years to the party. Over the years, he has held various roles within the party, including city president, corporator, and vice president of the entire Thane district.
In his resignation letter, Tharwal expressed his efforts to strengthen the party during his tenure but cited limitations in meeting the expectations set by Uddhav Thackeray, leading to his resignation.
Party sources revealed that despite attempts by senior Shiv Sena functionaries to persuade him to reconsider his decision, Tharwal remained steadfast in his resignation.
