Sena factions now spar over Navratri venue | Thane News

KALYAN: After row over Dahi Handi celebrations, the two factions of the Shiv Sena are now fighting over the venue for the nine-day Navratri festival which was earlier held by the undivided party at Durgadi Fort in Kalyan.
Both Kalyan city president of Shiv Sena (Shinde) Ravi Patil and Sachin Basare from Shiv Sena (UBT) have approached the Thane collector and the Thane police for permissions to organise the festivities from October 15 to 24 at the same spot.
Police have recorded the statements of both the parties’ city presidents. A few days ago, Patil had inspected the Durgadi Fort and told mediapersons that Navratri festival will be celebrated from 15 to 24 October. Basare, on the other hand, told mediapersons, “We are awaiting police response, and in case they deny us permission, we will approach the high court.”
