Thane: Police have seized a pistol and four live cartridges being carried illegally by a person in Thane, an official said on Sunday.
Following a tip-off, police laid a trap on Saturday and nabbed the 22-year-old man in Shahad area, senior police inspector Naresh Pawar from crime unit III at Kalyan said.
They found a country-made pistol and four live cartridges worth Rs 31,000 in his possession, Pawar added.
The man was carrying the firearm without any permit, the official said, adding he was arrested and booked under provisions of the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act. PTI

The arrest took place in Landran, Kharar, and four pistols, two magazines, and 12 live cartridges were recovered from the suspect. The accused was involved in providing support and hiding places to gang members. Investigations suggest that the accused and other gang members were planning to attack targets assigned by their foreign handlers. The suspect has a criminal record and was wanted by the Punjab Police. A case has been registered under the Arms Act.
