Thane: The property cell of the Thane crime branch has arrested a 26-year-old history sheeter and has seized two illegal country-made revolvers and six live cartridges from him. The accused has been identified as Akash Shirsath, a resident of Ulhasnagar.
The police said that they had information that a person with a specific description was to come at Kopri area, hence, a team was formed, and accordingly a trap was laid.
Upon carrying out the body search, the police recovered the two firearms from his possession and six bullets, said Ashok Morale, additional commissioner of police (crime).
The police further informed that the accused is being questioned for the source of the firearms and to whom he was going to sell it. Cops also found that he had been booked by the Chalisgaon police in Jalgaon on charges of abetment to suicide, molestation, and assault, in 2019, and also under the arms act in the same police station in 2022.
