More than 4,000 caught without ticket at Borivali station on October 11 | Mumbai News


MUMBAI: Western Railway continued its drive against without ticket travelers by carrying out a fortress check at Borivali station in Mumbai, where 4,166 ticketless were fined in a single day on October 11.

This is the highest ever single-day record of without ticket cases, beating the previous record of CR’s Thane’s station where 3,092 people were caught and a fine of more than Rs 8.6 lakh recovered on October 9.
The fortress check drive on WR section commenced at Dadar on September 30 in which 1,647 cases were detected with a recovery of Rs 4.22 lakh.
Thereafter, similar drivers were undertaken at major stations like Andheri, Bandra, Churchgate and even in AC locals.
The earlier highest on WR was at Andheri station on October 3 when ticket checkers caught 2,693 such commuters during a ‘fortress check’ and raked in Rs 7.14 lakh.
