THANE: Local residents led by the Thane unit of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) staged a peaceful protest on the Eastern Express highway at Anand Nagar condemning the toll rate hike.
The hike will be implemented starting October 1 at all five Mumbai entry points.
Traffic movement towards Thane or Mumbai was not affected as the protestors stood by the roadside holding placards with messages questioning the authorities over the issue.
Avinash Jadhav, MNS Thane president, said they have staged a peaceful agitation today but warned of a bitter protest in the coming days.
