Man killed, son injured in hit-and-run in Maharashtra’s Thane



THANE: A 52-year-old man riding a mobike was killed while his 17-year-old riding pillion suffered injuries in a hit-and-run case on the Eastern Express highway on Sunday evening, officials informed.
Yasin Tadvi, in-charge at the Thane regional disaster management group identified the deceased as Rakesh Bangera (52), a resident of Hiranandani Estate and said he was on his way to the railway station on his mobike with his 17 year old son riding pillion.
“The duo was crossing the Cadbury junction area when a private bus knocked them down from behind and ran over them. The driver of the bus jumped off the bus and escaped after the incident. The duo was rushed to the hospital where the man was declared dead while his son was shifted for injuries,” informed Tadvi.
The police have seized the bike and the bus and are in the process of registering an offence in the incident.
