CHENNAI: A worker of an Indian Oil fuel refilling station in Chennai’s Saidapet died on Friday evening when its roof collapsed during rain. Six others suffered injuries in the accident.
The fuel station is located on the Jones Road off the Anna Salai.
Fire and rescue services personnel and police were involved in rescue operations. They removed the collapsed roof using cranes.
Seven people, who were trapped under the collapsed roof, were rescued and taken to Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital in Guindy. One of them was declared “brought dead” in the hospital, said hospital director Dr Parthasarathy.
The injured were referred to Government Royapettah Hospital.
