THANE: A man in Maharashtra‘s Thane city allegedly beat a close relative to death and caused injuries to her 14-year-old son during a heated dispute, as reported by the police on Sunday.
The police took into custody a 30-year-old individual named Sanju Vilas Lokhande in the early hours of the day, charging him under sections 302 (pertaining to murder) and 307 (related to attempted murder) of the Indian Penal Code, according to an official statement.
The accused purportedly used an iron pipe to assault Durga Anil Kunte (40), a resident of Kokani Pada area living in a chawl, on Saturday evening. He also injured her 14-year-old son, Yash, in the process, the official mentioned.
The quarrel between the accused, who is originally from Talegaon in Pune, and the woman had stemmed from a trivial dispute that occurred on the preceding Friday, the official added.
Subsequently, the woman’s body was sent for post-mortem examination at a government hospital, and the injured boy was promptly taken to a hospital for medical care.
