Lok Sabha polls: Delhi Congress starts first phase of ‘Jawab Do-Hisab Do’ campaign | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Congress on Sunday launched the inaugural phase of its “Jawab Do-Hisab Do” campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, commencing with public meetings and a “Pratigya rally” held in Bawana.
The primary objective of this rally was to solemnly commit to defeating all seven BJP MPs in Delhi during the 2024 general elections. Arvinder Singh Lovely, the Delhi Congress president, spearheaded the rally.
Delhi has seven parliamentary constituencies, all of which were captured by the BJP in the 2019 polls. In Bawana, southwest Delhi, scores of Congress supporters congregated at Jhanda Chowk, brandishing party flags and chanting slogans against the ruling BJP at the Center.
Prior to arriving at the rally’s venue, Arvinder Singh Lovely engaged with Congress workers at Britania Chowk on Ring Road, and then proceeded to Madhuban Chowk, where he received a garland from local supporters and workers. A brief public meeting was held at Rithala Metro Station before he made his way to Bawana.
The entire route of the rally was festooned with Congress flags and posters featuring the party’s leader, Rahul Gandhi. At Madhuban Chowk, the Delhi Congress president also interacted with several students.
In addition to Arvinder Singh Lovely, other prominent figures participating in the campaign included former MP Krishna Tirath, former Delhi Minister Haroon Yusuf, former MPs Ramesh Kumar and Udit Raj, as well as Rajkumar Chauhan, Narender Nath, Devender Yadav, and Rajesh Lilothia.
Addressing the party workers during the Pratigya rally, Lovely accused the BJP government at the Center and the AAP-led Delhi government of rendering the residents of 365 Delhi villages as “refugees in their own lands.” He denounced the imposition of house tax on the villagers and claimed it was both a crime and a breach of rules and regulations.
Lovely further alleged that old-age pension benefits had been discontinued, and essential services for rural areas had been terminated. He pointed out that the Congress government had constructed 45,857 flats under the Rajiv Ratan Awaz Yojna for residents of JJ Clusters and industrial workers, but these flats were allegedly being allocated to the CISF instead.
