‘Ladakh soldier’ cons Borivali tutor of Rs 1.5 lakh

MUMBAI: A 50-year-old tuition teacher from Borivali was duped of Rs 1.5 lakh by a fraudster posing as an army man. On Friday, she got a call from one Pravin Kumar who said he was posted at Ladakh and gave her the reference of a teacher known to her.
He claimed that his family also lives in Borivli and said he wanted the teacher to coach his three school-going daughters.
A day later, he called again to “make fee payment” over Google Pay and requested the teacher to make a video call to ascertain her identity. He asked for details of her e-wallet account and asked her to open the wallet which she did. Soon after, Rs 1.5 lakh was deducted in five instalments from her account. The tuition teacher lodged a complaint at Kasturba Marg police station.
