KOLKATA: During the festive period from Mahapanchami to Bijoyadashami, Kolkata Metro Railway transported 4,165,000 passengers, marking a significant passenger turnout.
Notably, the North-South Metro Line transported 3,946,945 passengers, while the East-West Metro Line served 216,581 passengers over the six days of the Durga Puja celebrations. Additionally, the Purple Line transported 1,807 passengers on Mahapanchami and Mahasashti.
Dum Dum station on the North-South Metro Line saw the highest passenger count, with 384,857 passengers, closely followed by Kalighat with 368,830 passengers and Sovabazar-Sutanuti with 273,098 passengers during the festive period.
On the East-West Metro Line, Sealdah station recorded the maximum passenger count at 82,944, followed by Salt Lake Sector V with 31,225 passengers and Karunamoyee with 26,349 passengers.
The Kolkata Metro generated revenue of Rs. 6.12 crores by selling tokens, smart cards, and recharging smart cards during the Durga Puja festivities. Notably, the North-South Metro Line accounted for Rs. 5.79 crores of this revenue, while the East-West Metro Line and the Purple Line earned Rs. 32.86 lakhs and Rs. 26,460, respectively.
Furthermore, special night-long services were operated on Mahasaptami, Mahastami, and Mahanabami on the North-South Metro Line.
