Kolkata Metro introduces paper-based QR Code ticketing system | Kolkata News

KOLKATA: Kolkata Metro has launched a paper-based QR Code ticketing system in an effort to modernize its ticketing process. The trial run of this system was initiated at Sealdah Metro station on the East-West Corridor.
Commuters traveling within the East-West Corridor can now purchase paper-based QR code tickets exclusively from the counter at Sealdah Metro station. Developed by the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), this system is expected to gain popularity in the coming days.
In support of this new ticketing system, all AFC-PC (Automatic Fare Collection-Portable Computer) gates at various stations along the Green Line have been upgraded. The Metro authorities are closely monitoring passenger responses, and if the system proves successful during the trial period, it will be expanded to cover the entire East-West Corridor.
“Metro Authorities are hopeful that if this Paper-Based QR Code Ticketing System is successful in East-West Metro, then gradually it will also be implemented in the Kavi Subhas to Dakshineswar and Joka to Taratala stretches of the Blue and Purple Lines, respectively,” a metro official said.
Commuters have welcomed this new ticketing system, and the response from passengers on the first day of operation has been notably positive.
