Kalyan: Deputy accountant from tehsildar office demands Rs 65,000 bribe, booked | Thane News



KALYAN, the Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a case against Gangadhar Ahire, the deputy accountant at the Kalyan tehsildar office, on charges of allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 65,000 from a landowner in Kalyan.
The complainant, who owns agricultural land in the rural area of Kalyan, recently approached the Kalyan tehsildar office seeking a change in the status of his land from agricultural to non-agricultural.
According to an ACB official, when the complainant approached Ahire, he allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 65,000 to facilitate the requested change.
ACB authorities stated that upon receiving the complaint, they initiated an investigation and gathered evidence indicating that Ahire was seeking the bribe on behalf of his senior officials.
Based on these findings, the ACB filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Ahire on Thursday. However, he has not yet been apprehended.
