NEW DELHI: Security personnel in Delhi reportedly prevented survivor of the 2017 Unnao rape case and her mother to protest on Wednesday. The two have been protesting against the Delhi high court’s decision to grant relief to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in 2017 Unnao rape case.
The victim’s mother said, “We did not get justice.They are taking my daughter away as a captive. These security personnel want to kill us all. They took my daughters away in a CRPF vehicle. Kuldeep Sengar’s bail should be cancelled; otherwise, we will give up our lives. Otherwise, we will be killed, we are not safe…”Reacting to the incident, activist Yogita Bhayana says, “Is this justice? The victim’s mother was thrown onto the street. She’s crying and calling us. Is this a country or a banana land?… She’s (the victim) all alone on the bus… They’re driving her around in circles” she said.The case The Delhi high court on Tuesday suspended the jail term of expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is serving life imprisonment in the Unnao rape case.A bench of Justices Subramonium Prasad and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar released Sengar on bail while directing him to furnish a personal bond of Rs 15 lakh with three sureties of the like amount.The high court also directed Sengar not to come within a 5 km radius of the victim’s house and not threaten her or her mother.“Violation of any of the conditions would lead to cancellation of bail,” the court said.Sengar’s sentence has been suspended by the high court till the pendency of his appeal challenging his conviction and sentence in the rape case. He has challenged the December 2019 trial court verdict in the rape case.The minor girl was kidnapped and raped by Sengar in 2017.
