41-year-old Nitin Murkute, an Indian-origin man in the US, died during a cricket match in North Carolina, leaving behind his wife and two children. Murkute collapsed during the league match and was later pronounced dead. His friends have started raising money for the family as his wife Rashmi, is in the US on a non-working H-4 visa. Nitin was an active player associated with the Triangle Cricket League and the Morrisville Raptors.“Nitin leaves behind his wife Rashmi, his son Arnav (14), and his daughter Aarna (9). He had recently fulfilled his dream of buying a sweet home for his family, but with a mortgage and Rashmi being on an H4 visa (non‑working), the family now faces overwhelming emotional and financial challenges,” the GoFundMe appeal read. “Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping Rashmi and the kids navigate this heartbreaking time. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign so we can reach more people who can help,” it said. The NRI Community and the Carolina cricket community mourned for Murkute and remembered him as a person who lifted others up. “Nitin was the kind of person who lifted others up—on the field and in life. Now it’s our turn to lift up his family. Your support will help: Cover funeral and memorial expenses, provide immediate financial relief for Rashmi and the children, secure Arnav and Aarna’s education and future, ease the burden of mortgage and living costs,” the Triangle Cricket League appealed.
