The city had witnessed widespread rain and thundershowers on Friday as well.
Weather analysts have attributed the rain to a combination of meteorological factors. “The monsoon line of trough passed through south of Delhi, while there is also a cyclonic circulation over southern Haryanaand north-east Rajasthan.
There is also an active western disturbance. All these led to high-intensity rain in the city,”Kuldeep Srivastava, a scientist with IMD, said.
He added that the city may see another spell of rain of moderate to light intensity.
Due to the rain, the maximum temperature has dropped in the city.
On Friday, the maximum temperature at Safdarjung was 34.2 degrees Celsius, the season’s normal against 37.6 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The minimum temperature was recorded at 23.7 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal against 27.8 degrees Celsius a day earlier.
