Delhi Pollution: CM Arvind Kejriwal’s 15 pointer plan to tackle pollution in National Capital
This move comes in response to deteriorating air quality in the capital, with the recent direction from the Centre’s air quality panel instructing authorities in the National Capital Region (NCR) to enforce bans on coal usage in hotels and restaurants and take punitive measures against polluting industries and thermal power plants.
The central government’s pollution control plan, known as the ‘Graded Response Action Plan’ (GRAP), is being implemented in Delhi-NCR to combat air pollution during the winter season.
As part of the “Anti-Dust Campaign,” measures will include installing dust control equipment at sites exceeding 500 square meters, with real-time monitoring accessible through a web portal. To ensure strict adherence to dust control norms, 591 teams have been established, along with the deployment of 530 water sprinklers and 258 mobile anti-smog guns to combat dust pollution.
Rai said that separate action plans have been tailored for each of the 13 air pollution hotspots in Delhi, guided by real-time air quality data collected from 40 air quality monitoring stations in the city. Thirteen teams have been formed to implement these action plans at identified air pollution hotspots.
Last month, the Delhi government had unveiled a 15-point action plan to mitigate air pollution in the capital during the winter season, with a strong focus on addressing dust pollution, vehicular emissions, and open burning of garbage.
