CHENNAI: Customs officers at Chennai airport foiled a bid to smuggle foreign currencies worth Rs 55.8 lakh by two passengers.
Based on intelligence, two men who were about to board a flight to Singapore were intercepted. A search led to the seizure of foreign currencies from them. They had hidden currencies in the false bottom of a bag, said customs sleuths.
The two passengers were booked. Further investigations were on.
