NEW DELHI: The investigation into the fake “ED raid” which culminated in a robbery of Rs3 crore in Dwarka has revealed that the conspiracy was hatched two weeks ago when the victim had received the final instalment of the pay-out in a land deal.
While four people have been arrested, a manhunt has been launched for at least four others who were suspected to be key players in the conspiracy, police said, adding Rs1.27 crore of the loot has been recovered so far and a car has also been seized.
The police have retrieved a CCTV footage which shows the men entering and leaving the target’s house, leading to the identification of all suspects in the case.
Regarding the land deal, an official said that the victim had executed a sale agreement for his land in May. “Two weeks before the incident, he got the full amount,” the official said.
One of the suspects, supposedly an insider, came to know that the victim had not deposited money in the bank andsuspected that he had kept the money at his house. “That suspect conducted the recce of the home and kept tab on the victim’s movements. On Saturday, they raided his house,” the official said.
A second case in the incident has been registered at under the Arms Act after one of the accused, who had posed as ED officials to loot from the house in Baba Haridas Nagar, was nabbed and a pistol, four live cartridges and Rs70 lakh were recovered from suspect Amit, who was fleeing towards Sonipat, police added.
