In the early days of Durga Puja, south Kolkata seems to be attracting more visitors and cars compared to the northern part of the city. However, organizers believe that the situation can change once major pandals in the north are inaugurated. The early divide may be due to the perception that south Kolkata has wider roads and is more convenient for pandal-hopping combined with shopping. Overall, there is expected to be a record turnout this year, possibly due to the heritage tag attached to Durga Puja.
