Chennai: In the latest shuffle of IAS officers, S Sheik Abdul Rahaman has been appointed commissioner of the Avadi Municipal Corporation, replacing the existing commissioner K Tharpagaraj. Sheik Abdul Rahaman was holding the post of regional deputy commissioner (Central), GCC. Meanwhile K Tharpagaraj has been posted as deputy secretary in the higher education department.tnn

S Sheik Abdul Rahaman has been named the new commissioner of Avadi Municipal Corporation, taking over from K Tharpagaraj. Rahaman was previously serving as the regional deputy commissioner in the Greater Chennai Corporation. Tharpagaraj, on the other hand, has been transferred to the higher education department as deputy secretary.

Chennai Corporation commissioner inspects road relaying work near Theosophical Society
The Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner, Dr J Radhakrishnan, inspected road relaying work near the Theosophical Society in Besant Nagar. The GCC is working on relaying a one-kilometre stretch from Muthuswamy Park to the Theosophical Society. In addition, the commissioner also inspected cleaning and debris removal work near the MRTS station in Mandaveli. He announced that the GCC is planning a mass cleaning drive in Pattinapakkam.

Shreya Dharmarajan from Chennai became the British High Commissioner to India for a day as part of the ‘High Commissioner for a Day’ competition.
