‘Disorderly behaviour’: UK gurdwara condemns Khalistani extremists for disrupting Indian envoy visit

NEW DELHI: The gurdwara in Scotland, where the Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Vikram Doraiswami was prevented from entering, condemned the incident terming it as “disorderly behaviour”.
The Glasgow Gurdwara Guru Granth Sahib Sikh Sabha in a statement asserted that the police was investigating the matter.
“Certain unknown individuals from outside the Glasgow area attempted to disrupt the visit, following which the visiting party decided to leave the premises,” the gurdwara said in a statement.“After the departure of the visitors, these unruly individuals continued to disturb the gurdwara congregation. Police Scotland was in attendance thereafter and have taken cognisance of the matter. Glasgow Gurdwara strongly condemns such disorderly behaviour to disrupt the peaceful proceedings of a Sikh place of worship. The Gurdwara is open to people from all communities and backgrounds, and we welcome everyone openly as per our principles of faith,” it added.
India on Saturday took strong exception to an incident where the Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Vikram Doraiswami was prevented from entering a Gurdwara in Glasgow, Scotland.

Scotland: Radical Sikh activists stop Indian high commissioner from entering gurdwara, post video on social media

Terming it a “disgraceful incident”, the High Commission of India in London said “three persons — all from areas outside Scotland — deliberately disrupted a planned interaction organised by the Gurudwara Committee for the community, the High Commissioner (HC) and the Consul General of India (CG).
According to a purported video posted on the Instagram channel of ‘Sikh Youth UK’, a reportedly pro-Khalistani activist was seen blocking Doraiswami from entering the Glasgow Gurudwara on Albert Drive. This comes amid a diplomatic row between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
The video shows two men near the High Commissioner’s car in the parking area. One of them is seen attempting to open the car door. The purported video then shows the high commissioner’s car leaving the gurdwara premises.
