KALYAN: The developers’ body in Kalyan-Dombivli, unhappy over state government’s plan to increase stamp duty and ready reckoner rates, have demanded the government to not increase the rates.
The developer body’s said increase in stamp duty and ready reckoner rates will led to increase in property rates.
The state’s biggest developer’s body MCHI CREDAI’s Kalyan-Dombivli unit on Wednesday had called a press conference over their upcoming property exhibition to be held from April 6 to 9 in Kalyan.
During the press conference, Bharat Chedha, president of MCHI-CREDAI Kalyan-Dombivli, said, “We heard that the state government is going to increase stamp duty as well as rate of ready reckoner in many places in state. If this happens then the price of the flat will increase.”
Chedha further said, “The construction cost is already high due to various reasons and there is pressure on the price. We were expecting that the rate of ready reckoner would come down or the way the government had given relief in stamp duty after corona, due to which the sale of flats increased and the revenue that the government wanted was also increased.”
Chedha said, “In this situation, we request the government not to increase the ready reckoner. And efforts should be made for how people can get cheap houses in affordable housing.”
Another developer Ravi Patil said, “The increase in such rates mainly affects buyers who purchase these flats. If government wanted to increase revenue then instead they should give some relaxation which will led to increase in sales and ultimately the revenue.”
