NEW DELHI: In southwest Delhi’s Munirka, the bodies of a woman and her two children were found on Sunday, all bearing wrist injuries from a sharp weapon, according to authorities.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Varsha Sharma and her two children, aged four and two-and-a-half years.
Initial suspicions point to a tragic sequence of events where the woman may have taken the lives of her children before ending her own, as suggested by a senior official.
Sharma was the wife of a police constable employed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The couple had been married since 2017.
Authorities received a distressing call around 10:30 am, reporting a woman’s suicide at a residence in Munirka village. Responding swiftly, a team from the Kishangarh police station arrived at the scene and gained entry to the house by breaking down the doors.
Upon entering the premises, law enforcement discovered the lifeless bodies of the woman and her two children, each displaying wrist injuries consistent with sharp weapon use.
At this stage, it appears that the woman, following the tragic act against her children, took her own life. The police have since informed the sub-divisional magistrate to initiate the necessary inquest proceedings. Legal actions are underway, the official confirmed.
The bodies have been dispatched for post-mortem examination.
