NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old man allegedly involved in a series of house burglaries across Dwarka district was arrested.The case came to light when a complaint was filed by a woman from Uttam Nagar on Dec 12, who reported that gold and silver jewellery was stolen from her house after a rear window was broken open. A case was registered at Bindapur police station.During the analysis of CCTV footage from the area, police spotted a masked man entering and exiting the complainant’s residence. His movements were tracked until the trail was initially lost near Vishwas Park. The footage was later shared with local informers, who helped identify the suspect as Ram, a resident of Bindapur.“Based on manual and technical surveillance, the accused was found to be active during night hours in the Dabri area,” said DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh.
Multiple raids were conducted at his hideouts. Police received a tip-off about Ram’s presence at a park in Dwarka’s Sector 3 on Wednesday evening. The team laid a trap and apprehended him after a brief chase.Police recovered a gold locket, a gold chain, four nose rings, a gold ring, four pairs of silver payal, three pairs of silver toe rings, a silver kamarband, five silver coins, and five stolen mobile phones from him.He was found to be a first-time offender, with involvement in eight cases of burglary and house theft registered at Bindapur, Dabri, and Uttam Nagar police stations.
