Covid 19: Mahanta Virtually Participates In Covid-19 Review Meeting | Guwahati News



DIBRUGARH: Amid rise in Covid-19 cases in the country, health minister Keshab Mahanta on Friday virtually participated in the Covid review meeting of health ministers of all states and Union Territories chaired by Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
Talking to reporters after participating in the meeting virtually from the conference hall of Dibrugarh University guest house, Mahanta said the health ministers have given their respective feedbacks in connection with the Covid-19 situation in their states or Union Territories.
“We have given our feedback. In Assam, there is no serious concern as of now. Recently, 2 Covid positive cases were detected in the state. Both the patients are recovering,” Mahanta said. The minister added that the health ministry will submit the outcome of Friday’s meeting to the central government for further decisions.
On April 5, 482 Covid tests were done in Assam out of which one positive case was detected from Golaghat.
India on Friday reported 6,050 new Covid-19 cases, data shared by health ministry showed. The total active cases stood at 28,303 whereas 14 more fatalities were reported due to the virus during the same period.
A total of 5,30,943 people have lost their lives due to Covid-19. The number of discharged people stands at 4,41,85,858. A total of 2,20,66,20,700 inoculations have been done since the nationwide vaccination drive commenced on January 16, 2021.
The major contributors to India’s growing Covid graph have been states like Kerala, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh which have seen a sharp surge in infections in the last few days.
