THANE: Congress leader Nana Patole has accused the state government to failing to work in a democratic manner and said they would soon approach governor Ramesh Bais and apprise him of the situation in the state.
Patole was in the city, Friday, to protest the action against party colleague Rahul Gandhi. “The action reflects the height of dictatorship in our country. Gandhi hasn’t uttered any un-parliamentary words but simply posed few pertinent queries. Is it wrong to ask why the common man’s hard earned money is diverted to industrialists,” he questioned while addressing the media.
The Congress leader also criticised the BJP-Shiv Sena led state government for failing to solve the common man’s problems and deflecting from core issues like farmer suicides. He sought clarification in the rise in religion based disturbances reported recently in the state and questioned if the government was run by a Hindu-supporting coalition partners how come the community felt insecure and is staging protests.
“They (BJP-Sena) toppled our government but are unable to handle the state. There is rising resentment among citizens which is reflected in how varied factions of the society are staging protests. We want to uproot such a government that does not function in a democratic manner. We will also meet the governor and apprise him of the ‘failing situation’ in the state,” Patole said criticising the rising attacks and threats issued to opposition activists. He also expressed suspicion on the mysterious death of former bodyguard of NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad and sought to know if the police was working under government pressure.
The ruling coalition partners must come out of its denial and understand the seriousness of what the Supreme Court recently observed about its functioning.
