CHENNAI: Chennai mayor R Priya on Thursday appealed to residents to take rabies vaccines.
She was speaking after inaugurating a rabies vaccine camp held as part of the World Rabies Day (September 28).
Priya said people should understand the importance of the vaccine as they may get infected even by a small bite by dogs.
“Veterinary workers who catch dogs must use safety gears while going to catch dogs. If there is a dog menace, people can report to 1913. Workers will catch the dogs and sterilise and vaccinate them,” he said.
The mayor said 23,516 stray dogs had been caught and sterilised since 2022 till date.
