Bold, bright and blingy finale for Delhi Times Fashion Week | Delhi News


The third and last day of Delhi Times Fashion Week (DTFW), presented by KRasa Group, powered by DANJ Entertainment and co-powered by Cantabil, had fun shows that set new trends for the upcoming festive and wedding seasons.
Sheer elegance

Ajaz Khan walked as the showstopper for Ashfaque Ahmad

Designer Ashfaque Ahmad worked with a lot of sheer fabrics in both men’s and womenswear. Most of his designs were in black, and the designer said that it’s because “black is the safest colour for anyone and almost everyone’s favourite.” He added, “Delhi is known for its parties and bling, so that’s what I wanted to bring to the ramp.”

Priyanka Chahar Choudhary walked as the showstopper for Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor

Designers Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor brought the curtains down to the fashion gala with a grand show. From pearls to crystals and stones, elaborate embroidery on each design was the highlight. “I am an artist, and my art reflects in our collection,” said Anjalee. Arjun added, “This is one of the shows that we enjoyed doing the most.”

Designer Prashant Majumdar’s collection was a mix of fusion and western wear. Gowns with thigh-high slits for women and tuxedos for men were some of the highlights of the show. The designer shared, “The collection was designed around the theme galaxy.”

For this show, aspiring designers explored different themes and tried their hands at techniques like colour blocking. “It was amazing to be here with our students. The show was divided into two segments – first was about colour blocking with smart casuals, and second was the graduation collection with beachwear and some couture garments,” said Prof Chandni Aggarwal, Fashion Director, KR Mangalam University.
A glam debut

With a mix of formal wear and evening wear, students of IWP Academy presented their collection. “It is always amazing to see our students showcasing at DTFW. Both staffers and students showcased their collections. This is an amazing platform for students, and each time they are here, they are encouraged to come up with innovative themes,” said Vishal Nijhawan, Director, IWP Academy, and Anubha Nijhawan.

With mirror and threadwork and embroidery traditions from different regions, designer Suhail Hafeez combined traditional elements with modern cuts. The menswear collection had a range of kurtas, bundee and bandhagalas as well as formal wear. “I think modern men take their outfits seriously and love wearing colours, and so, I worked with a lot of bright shades,” said Suhail.

The collection, inspired by nature, had a lot of appliqué work and embroidered floral patterns. Designer Kavita Bisht said, “The collection was called Firdaus. We are an occasion wear brand, we focussed on wedding and festive season. A lot of gold foil and hand printing techniques were used in the collection.”

Designer Reishna Mukherjee’s show was all about presenting couture in a contemporary style. It had designs with a subtle hint of shimmer.
“This show was all about keeping the festive vibes alive,” said Reishna.

Rashmi Chhabra’s collection had athleisure and smart casuals. “The collection, Glitterati, was designed for the festive season, and we introduced bling to athleisure with studs and sequins,” said Rashmi.
“DTFW is a festival in itself, and we are very happy to be associated with it. We are happy to host DTFW second time in a row,” said Umesh Saraf, MD, The Grand, New Delhi.
“We are dealing with luxury, and there’s no better platform than DTFW for us,” said Arvind Singh, MD Krasa, and Kajal Singh, Joint MD Krasa.
